Sapience is a PC usage solution that tracks employee use of desktop and web applications on office PCs. It operates with a client-server architecture. Agents on individual PCs collect user time utilization data. Each user has access to an individual dashboard that shows their daily and hourly time use. Company leaders and managers can view company-level, aggregated data, and business analytics on a central server. Data is collected in real-time, and reports can be generated on demand.

Sapience automatically classifies work into activities (such as design, development, and communication) and end objectives (projects, functions). It also determines when an employee goes offline for periods of time – i.e., when the computer is not in use. Sapience allows managers to view and understand work patterns across their organization, and gives employees greater visibility into how their daily time is spent.

Yes. Sapience reports can be viewed and used through any mobile device’s compatible Web browser. Sapience can also collect data from mobile devices.

Sapience tracks time spent in business apps, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as development platforms commonly used by software companies.

Sapience does not capture key strokes; nor does it perform screen scrapes. It captures time spent on the PC, and application information.

It is a business process management solution, designed to address the concerns of enterprises, which are interested in actionable, high-level work trends, rather than data about each individual’s time. No. Sapience is not a monitoring tool. It is designed to provide the ‘big picture’ about enterprise effort. While data is collected from each employee, companies only have visibility into work-related time spent on the PC. Time spent on personal activities is not visible to the organization. Employers also do not have visibility into each employee’s daily breakdown of time by the hour or minute—they only receive totals of time spent on work-related tasks.

From an employee perspective, the biggest privacy concern is often about an employer’s ability to see which websites they visit. Employees are often unaware that companies already have access to all the websites and content visited by employees via their web proxy server or other network management tools. Most global companies record emails and chats, too. Yet, companies rarely access that data.

Companies don’t want to monitor employees; but rather want to move their performance from good to better. They have to become more competitive, and to do so, they need to raise the performance bar.

Sapience facilitates this objective by automatically showing Enterprise Effort in various dimensions. Once you have the facts, you can improve. If you want to reap the performance benefits of Sapience while ensuring maximum privacy, you can choose to run Sapience in “Anonymous” mode. In this mode, Sapience is used primarily as a self-improvement tool, with individual data only visible to individual employees. Managers may view total employee productivity metrics and trends across the company, including gaps between “reasonable” and actual work time, at the team level.

Yes. Sapience is designed to encourage the pursuit of excellence by improving employee engagement. Encouraging and rewarding performance will help your company become more efficient, so you can move to the next level. Sapience allows you to measure performance. If it shows that employees are working at expected levels, no improvement is needed. However, if work performance is below expectations, Sapience can show the way to higher levels of output with more reasonable efforts. Yes. Simply add a new user ID to your account, or disable an existing user ID, and deploy the data collection agent.

Employees may classify the use of their offline time within the app. Meetings configured in Outlook are automatically incorporated into Sapience data.

No. Sapience can track usage across multiple PCs. Just log in with your user ID, and Sapience will gather data from whichever PC you are using, and aggregate it into a single report.
