Business World: Google’s Pitchette & Work-life Balance

It’s all over the search engines (sorry – could not resist the Google pun) – the heartfelt note from soon-to-be ex-Google CFO Patrick Pichette laying out the pressures on executives in high positions like his. It has become somewhat routine for senior executives to announce that they are leaving to spend more time with their families only for them to pop up after a suitably long sabbatical in another, equally high profile role but at this early stage this feels different. Pitchette says “In the end, life is wonderful, but nonetheless a series of trade-offs, especially between business/professional endeavors and family/community.” – most of us have thought as much at one time or the other.
